- QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
- I have a CSA #11 stamp perforated in gauge 8 1/2. How can I be sure if it is genuine or not?
Answer
- How can I tell the difference between CSA #6 and CSA #7 on
London (De La Rue) Paper? I know they are considered to be different
stamps, but they look the same to me.
Answer
- Can you make some comments with regard to the condition of
Confederate Stamps particularly with regard to the gum? I like to
collect Original Gum Never Hinged stamps but find that is next to
impossible with regards to Confederate stamps. Answer
- I am having trouble trying to identify CSA #11 from CSA #12
and also trying to identfy which are the Archer and Daly printings and
which are the Keatinge & Ball printings. Can you explain the
differences?
Answer
- How do you tell the difference between the Paterson and the Hoyer & Ludwig printings of the CSA #2?
Answer
- I have not been able to find any real information about the
CSA stamps that are showing up on E-Bay described as "Unissued
Confederate Stamps." One looks like the 5c Jefferson Davis #6 but is a
10c value and is in various colors. The other looks like the John C.
Calhoun #14 but is a 2c value in green. I cannot find these stamps in
my catalog. Can you tell us something about these stamps?
Answer
- Would you please explain the significance of the "Old Point Comfort" cancels on Civil War mail?
Answer
- In the Scott Catalog, the value for CSA #8 and CSA #13 is much
higher for a used stamp than for a mint stamp. Would you discuss this
difference in catalog values and also comment on the fake cancels seen
on these stamps?
Answer
- I would like to start a Collection of CSA Stamps and Covers.
Can you give some advice as to how one goes about starting such a
collection?
