Sales Policies

  1. Civil War Philatelic Society (CWPS), formerly known as the Confederate Stamp Alliance (CSA), members in good standing may take 10% off the list price of the stamps and postal history as a benefit of membership. The CWPS (CSA) Member Discount applies only to the CSA Stamps and Covers and does not apply to the CSA Currency. Please include your CWPS (CSA) Member Number with your order to claim the discount. If you are not a member of the Society and would like to learn more about the CSA and perhaps obtain a membership application, then return to my Index Page and read the "Confederate Stamp Alliance" section for the necessary information. The items on the listings are all offered net price. No additional discounts beyond the CWPS (CSA) Member Discount are available. Lower offers are not solicited and will be declined if made as a matter of policy. Occasionally items owned by others and offered on consignment are not subject to the CWPS (CSA) Member Discount and will be so noted on the listing.

  2. Texas residents will have 8.25% sales tax added. Postage charges will be added according to the following table --

For all orders $400.00+ a signature is required for insurance purposes. Priority Certified Mail and  Priority Express Mail postage increases went into effect 23 JAN 2023.

  3. Please use the same class mail as received when returning stamps and/or covers (First Class, Priority Certified, or Priority Express). Additional Postal Insurance is not required for returns as all returns are covered in my private insurance policy. FEDEX shipping is also available if so desired by the collector, but the rates are higher. My FEDEX shipments are all insured up to $50,000.00 per shipment.

  4. Bonafide dealers may contact me for a dealer discount. Dealers not known to me who are not members of the ASDA or another nationally recognized stamp dealer organization such as the TSDA or the FSDA must supply me with a Business Card and a Tax Resale Number specific to a stamp or related dealership (coins, collectibles, paper ephemera, antiques, currency or some such similar dealership) as proof of actual dealership. CSA Member and Dealer Discounts apply only to the CSA Stamps and Covers and do not apply to the CSA Currency.

  5. Everything that I sell is GUARANTEED as Genuine. If an item is submitted for certification after purchase and is by some chance returned with a bad certificate, then I will promptly issue a refund to include the cost incurred in obtaining the bad certificate. If a "No Opinion" certificate is obtained, I will refund the cost of the item and the cost of the certificate if desired. But please bear in mind that it is not uncommon to obtain a "No Opinion" certificate on scarce CSA material, and it does not lessen its salability to the knowledgeable advanced collector. The items must be returned to me in the same condition as purchased for these certificate refunds to take effect.

Certificates that are acceptable are the Civil War Philatelic Society (CPS) formerly known as the Confederate Stamp Alliance (CSA), American Philatelic Society (APS), and the Philatelic Foundation (PF). The PSE has recently announced (2012) that they will now again accept CSA stamps for authentication, grading, and slabbing. The other three major CSA certifying committees listed do not slab the stamps. The Civil War Philatelic Authentication Service (Confederate Stamp Alliance Authentication Service) is significantly opposed to the slabbing of Confederate stamps. Stamps purchased will not be accepted for a return for reasons of grading as the stamps are not sold per the PSE grading system. Stamps purchased from this website subsequently slabbed by the PSE after purchase will not be accepted as returns for any reason.

  6. The approval period is 15 days (30 days if overseas). I ask that items be returned within that period of time if they are found to be unsatisfactory. Collectors who do receive material on approval and do not either return or pay for the material within the requested time will lose the privilege of examining the material on approval. If more time is needed, then please let me know as I am always willing to work directly with the individual collector. I do offer time payment plans up to 90 days at no interest. If interested in a 30, 60, or 90 day payment plan, please contact me by E-mail for details of each plan (JLKCSA@aol.com)

  7. Any item may be returned within the approval period for a full refund if not completely satisfied. No reason need be given. But if any item is returned, I would really appreciate knowing the reason.

How to Order

  1. Please order using the Inventory Control number preceding the description (eg AL110 and CS-0125). All items listed are one-of-a-kind and are subject to prior sale. It is suggested that alternate choices be given in case the primary items are no longer available.

  2. Orders can be made by regular mail, telephone, FAX, or E-Mail. (JLKCSA@aol.com). Just click on my E-Mail address found throughout the website to send me a message.

  3. The most convenient way to order is to use my secure interactive "Confederate Order Form"  Checks, Money Orders, PAYPAL, Credit Cards (Visa/Mastercard and American Express) accepted.

  4. Material will be sent on approval only to collectors who are known to me and have established credit with me by purchasing material in the past. All others are expected to pay for the material in advance. No exceptions. Payment by cash, check, money order, credit cards (VISA / Mastercard, American Express) or PAYPAL. For collectors in the United Kingdom, payment can also be made directly by a British Sterling cheque. Please do not send credit card information via standard E-Mail because it is not secure. Use my secure interactive "Confederate Order Form" for credit card payment. Clicking on any of my "Confederate Order Form" links will open the form in a new window which you can easily resize and leave open while you browse the net price listings. Or if you prefer, you may use either regular mail, telephone, or FAX for credit card payment. No interest layaway time payments over 30-90 days can be arranged if so desired. An E-Mail message will reserve an item until payment is received. Every effort is made to keep the listings up to date by removing immediately the sold items. But if you wish, you may inquire about the availability of an item by E-Mail.
  5. You can shop with confidence. I have partnered with Authorize.Net, a leading payment gateway since 1996, to accept credit card  payments safely and securely for my customers. The Authorize.Net Payment Gateway manages the complex routing of sensitive customer information through the credit card processing networks. The company adheres to strict industry standards for payment processing, including: 1) 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology for secure Internet Protocol (IP) transactions, 2) Industry leading encryption hardware and software methods and security protocols to protect customer information, 3) Compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). For additional information regarding the privacy of your sensitive cardholder data, please read the Authorize.Net Privacy Policy .

Many of you may understandably be a bit reluctant to do business on-line with someone that you do not know. Please note that I belong to the major philatelic organizations. If in doubt, please feel free to check directly with the American Stamp Dealer's Association and the American Philatelic Society to verify my membership. Direct links to the Home Pages of these two major philatelic associations are provided at the bottom of my Index Page. I run a continuous classified display advertisement in Linn's Stamp News and have had a display ad in the Confederate Section of the Scott USA Specialized Catalog for a number of years. My philatelic business was established in 1988, and this website went online in 1997. My business has been built on fair dealing and on the trust of my collector clients. No dealer can survive long in the philatelic business without the trust of the collector. If you have further questions, do not hesitate to give me a call on the telephone (phone number above).

Thank you very much for your interest. I certainly hope that you find something for your collection on my current listing.
