The military address (Southern Rifles) refers to the 8th Georgia Infantry, the same regiment as the cover on a preceding page. The Colonel of the 8th Georgia (F. S. Bartow of Savannah, Ga) was killed at 1st Manassas. This cover was posted 9 days after the battle when the regiment had been relocated to Norfolk, Va.
