CSA #8 USED Vert Pair (reconstructed from two singles and may have been part of a larger strip of 5 cut into singles). The two stamps are tied together by the Camden (Ark) CDS 1 OCT. The CDS is a bold strike but only the top half where “Camden” is easily seen, but the state designation is not on the stamps. However, the postmark is clearly the Camden, Ark CDS as I have included a photocopy of a known Camden, Ark CDS cropped from a well-known Trans-Mississippi cover for comparison. These stamps showing Arkansas usage are very scarce. |

|
CSA #8 USED (margins in to touching on all four sides and stamp has faults which are thins and a small edge scuff) with a neat strike of the VIOLET Augusta, Ga CDS (date not apparent). This stamp used with a violet postmark is very scarce as it is not listed in Dietz with the violet postmark but is listed in the current Scott but not priced. The faults notwithstanding, this is still a highly presentable stamp with what for this stamp is a very scarce postmark. CSA Certificate #4625 from 2005 signed by Jerry Palazolo. |

CSA #8 Block of 4 UNUSED (4-Margin with a Large Left Sheet Margin) OG NH with minor gum disturbances otherwise Very Fine. |

![]() |
CSA #8 Horz Strip of 4 USED (margin touches at left). The strip appears to have been canceled by a period manuscript “(Mon)tpelier NC Jun 26th.” This was most likely originally a strip of five but one stamp has been removed some time in the past. Interesting item which certainly appears to be genuinely used with a manuscript town mark but difficult to prove off cover. |

CSA #8a Pale Red Gutter Block of 4 (4-Margin) OG LH (small black marks at the top center visible on the back only) Very Fine appearance and a scarce item as as a full gutter block with no fold in the gutter. | $600.00 |
![]() |
CSA #8 USED (margin close on the right and a minor pre-affixing horz crease) tied to a small blue paper piece by a full strike of the Richmond, Va CDS Powell Type 5g 15 MAR (1865). The use of this particular Richmond postmark dates the usage to 1865 which is very late for this stamp. Signed “Dietz” on the reverse. Very Fine appearance. This stamp was used as an illustration on Page 144 of the Collector’s Guide to Confederate Philately Second Edition. | $500.00 |
![]() |
CSA #8 USED (4-Margin but close at the bottom) tied to a large piece (more like a cover front) by a weak strike of a large single rim postmark not otherwise identified (date not apparent). The large piece contains the full address Rev Whiteford Smith DD, Spartanburg CH. So. Carolina. The postmark mark does not fit the Spartanburg overlay, so most likely this is a circular usage and not a drop letter. CSA Certificate 1997 which states "Genuine" but no opinion on the identification of the postmark. | $250.00 |
![]() |
CSA #8 Vert Strip of 3 USED (possibly cut down from an original Strip of 5) (margin touches at the bottom) with two strikes of the Augusta, Ga small double circle CDS with a broken “G” of “GA” which makes it look like “LA” dated 12 FEB. The stamps have light creases, small thins, and a tiny pinhole in the margin between the top two stamps. Larger used multiples are not commonly seen. Even with the minor faults still quite an attractive larger used multiple. CSA Certificate 1978. Ex-Powell. | $750.00 |

CSA #8 USED (4-Margin) tied to a small piece by a full strike of the Richmond, Va CDS Powell Type 5g 3 MAY (1864) with the day logo inverted. The small piece is from a newspaper. The newspaper rate was 2c for the first 3oz. The use of this stamp on a newspaper is quite scarce. Only very few full newspapers with the stamp have survived. A very fine piece and an excellent exhibit item for the newspaper rate. PF Certificate 1987 and CSA Certificate 1998. The certificates mention slight creases which are insignificant and consistent with this being a newspaper piece. The CSA certificate mentions a pinhole. There is no pinhole, but there is a small natural paper inclusion in the middle of the stamp. Very Fine. | $1,000.00 |

The
CSA #10
(Frame-Line) is the scarcest of all the CSA General Issue stamps. This
stamp is extremely difficult to acquire and most often sells at
auction.
Frame-Line stamps of superior quality are commanding substantial
premiums. Only occasionally do I ever have one in stock.

CSA #10 Frame Line UNUSED (4-Margin showing all 4 Complete Frame Lines) No Gum. The stamp has been professionally restored at the right and the left edges to a stunning appearance. The restoration at the right is the edge only and does not involve the frame line. The restoration at the left involves part of the left frame line but not all of it. CSA Certificate 2016 which states “Genuine unused” and makes mention of the restoration. Great opportunity to obtain a really wonderful appearing unused frame line stamp at an affordable price. | $3,750.00 SOLD |

CSA #10a Frame Line Milky Blue USED (margin touches at the top) showing a complete line at the bottom and about half the line at the right. Neat strike of the small double circle Mobile, Ala CDS 13 JUN (most likely 1863). Pencil notations on the back indicating that the stamp comes from Position 37. No thins. CSA Certificate 2005. | $950.00 SOLD |

CSA #10 Frame Line USED (4-Margin) showing complete lines right and bottom and 3/4 line at left. Tied to small brown paper piece by the Sumter SC CDS 15 JUN 1861. Error in the date in the CDS as it should be 1863. Sumter SC is known for this date error as there are other examples. Small pre-affixing scissors cut only in the margin at the right lower corner. Very Fine Appearance. PSE Certificate 2018 "GENUINE" but does not mention the date error. | $4,000.00 SOLD |
![]() | CSA #10 Frame Line UNUSED (margin touches at the top) showing complete line at the right and part line at bottom left. Part original gum. The stamp has faults with overall light toning, shallow thins, edge and corner damage at the top left and top right. This stamp is from an old collection and has not previously been offered on the philatelic market. The stamp was stuck to an old album page with an offset of the album illustration visible on the reverse transferred when the stamp was removed from the page. Considering the rarity and the catalog value of an unused frame line stamp, consideration could be given to having a professional conservator repair the faults. That could be done but also could be quite expensive. The stamp is still presentable as it now is. CWPAS (CSA) Certificate 2024. | $2,000.00 SOLD |

CSA #11 (AD) Horz Block of 6 UNUSED (4-Margin with a lower sheet margin) Positions 88-90/98-100 from the Right Pane. No Gum. Part imprint "...Note Engravers, Richmond, Va." There is a distinct lighter doubled impression of the imprint below the main imprint. This is most unusual. I have never seen another example of a doubled imprint. It is not mnetioned in any of the catalogs, and Dietz does not mention it in his 1926 book. I am at a complete loss to explain how this might have occurred as the stamps themselves are normally printed with the exception of the Position 100 stamp which shows random printing flaws (short transfers) which were mistakenly previously described as abrasions. There is some old gum toning along the top right edge and at the top center. This double impression of the imprint is currently considered to be unique as to my knowledge a second example has not as yet been described. Ex-Randy Neil Exhibit. | $550.00 Sale Pending |

CSA #11 (AD) Block of 4 UNUSED (4-Margin) OG, Hinged with a light horizontal crease across the top. The left upper stamp is very noticeably misregistered lower than the adjacent stamp on the right. The misregistered stamp is from Position 27 of the Right Pane of Plate No 2 and is an uncataloged variety as it can only be seen in a multiple (pair, strip, or block). The Position 17 stamp directly above this block also shows the same misregistration. A complete Right Pane of Plate No 2 is illustrated on Page 242 of August Dietz’ 1929 book, and the two misregistered stamps can be easily seen one above the other in the illustration. A complete Left Pane of Plate No 2 is illustrated on Page 125 of the Collector’s Guide to Confederate Philately Second Edition which shows that no stamps from the left pane are misregistered. I am unaware of any misregistered stamps from Plate No 1. No evidence of a double transfer. Very interesting unlisted variety position piece. | $200.00 |
