CSA #11 (AD) Horz Block of 6 UNUSED (4-Margin with a lower sheet margin) Positions 88-90/98-100 from the Right Pane. No Gum. Part
imprint "...Note Engravers, Richmond, Va." There is a distinct lighter
doubled impression of the imprint below the main imprint. This
is most unusual. I have never seen another example of a doubled
imprint. It is not mnetioned in any of the catalogs, and Dietz does not
mention it in his 1926 book. I am at a complete loss to explain how
this might have occurred as the stamps themselves are normally printed
with the exception of the Position 100 stamp which shows random
printing flaws (short transfers) which were mistakenly previously
described as abrasions. There is some old gum toning along the top
right edge and at the top center. This double impression of the imprint
is currently considered to be unique as to my knowledge a second
example has not as yet been described. Ex-Randy Neil Exhibit. |
