CSA #4a four singles arranged to
look like a Horz Strip of 4 Stone 2 Positions 19, 30, 29, 28 USED
(margins appear to be quite decent and two of the stamps overlap). The
color is a uniform Dark Blue, so the stamps apparently all came from
the same sheet. The stamps are tied together and to a small piece by
two strikes of the Columbus,
Mi(ss)
CDS 9 JUL (1862). The far right stamp has pre-affixing creases along
the left side which do not detract from the appearance. The other three
stamps appear to be fault free. Very attractive multiple not commonly
seen paying a double weight rate.Ex-Powell. |
