Charles Teft (1836-1900) enlisted as a Private 8/12/1862. He was discharged for disability 2/2/1864. No further information.
The
witness, Caleb T. Bowen (1832-1906), was Capt of Co G at the
time he signed this note. He is listed as wounded and captured as
a POW at Antietam 9/17/1862 but quickly paroled and rejoined his unit a
few months later. He was captured as a POW a second time at Petersburg
(Va) 7/30/1864 (Battle of the Crater) and confined at Macon, Ga and
Columbia SC until paroled in March 1865.
