T35 CC2343 CSA $5.00 Note (Slaves loading Cotton on Mississippi Steamboat, Indian Princess). Subtype Cr-271. The "Indian Princess" is one of the rarest and most iconic of the Confederate type notes. This note, Serial No Ab 4239, was not previously listed on the recorded census and is newly discovered. It has now been added to the census. Fricke in his book listed 115 examples with the highest grade recorded being AU (only one) and only a very small number of notes that grade VF and none that grade XF. Most of the known examples are lower grade and have defects as the note was originally printed on very poor quality paper. This note was recently graded by the PMG as "25 Very Fine" which makes it a very high grade for this note. There are no defects, but there is a small period ink stain at the lower right. The note has no repairs and no restorations. This note is a consignment item and remains in the possession of the owner, but it is for sale. Please serious inquiries only.
