Sometimes work just has to wait when the desk is used for more important things like an afternoon nap.

Penny 1998-2011

January 31, 2011 - It has been some time since I posted any pictures of my kitties. Unfortunately, I lost Penny a month short of her 13th birthday. The picture above is one of her last portraits taken in September 2010 and is certainly one of my favorites. Penny developed a malignant tumor in her neck which originated in the thyroid gland and just exploded once it took hold. These cancers are rare in cats but do occur and are only found in older cats over 10 years of age. Penny was one of the unlucky ones and succumbed to the disease about 4 1/2 months after it was discovered. She was a great cat that I had ever since she was just 3 months old, and I will miss her greatly. She is now buried in the local pet cemetery where two of my earlier cats are buried including my first Georgie whose pictures are on the preceding page. I still have Penny's litter mate sister Georgie Jr with me who appears to be quite healthy at the present time as well as dozens of photos to remember the good times.

Penny and Georgie Jr always liked to snooze together. Here they are on their favorite window in May 2009 at 11 years of age.

Georgie Jr 1998-2012

September 15, 2012 - Today Georgie Jr followed her sister across the Rainbow Bridge at age 14 years and 6 months. Georgie, like her sister, also developed a cancer. She began having problems last summer. According to the symptoms and tests, she developed what most certainly appeared to be multiple myeloma. With treatment, she was in remission for well over a year and lived a good and active life. But it all finally caught up with her, and she ultimately succumbed to renal failure. She will be buried shortly at the local pet cemetery next to her sister. I miss them both very much as they were great cats as can be seen by the progression of photos taken starting at 4 months of age. I do plan to rescue two new shelter cats but not immediately. Watch for pictures of two new cats in the months to come. Penny and Georgie Jr will never be forgotten. I have many memories and many photos of all the good times.

December 11, 2012 - In October 2012, I acquired two new 4 month old littermate sister kittens from the rescue shelter which I have named Penny III and Georgie III in honor of my previous cats. Check out the next page for pictures of my new kittens.
