CSA #1 Stone 2 Position 13 (margin in at the bottom right) tied by the Tudor Hall, Va CDS 14 FEB (1862) (Valentines Day).
Very fancy embossed small lady's type cover suitable for Valentines
Day. Addressed to Miss ------ Johnson, Williamsburg NC. Included with
the cover is a period valentine with a colored image of a young lady
and an embossed church and printed message "Dearest accept this
tribute." No written message. The valentine does not go with this cover
as the embossing is different and the valentine is just a little too
large for the cover. Most likely the cover was sent by a North Carolina
soldier home to his girl friend for Valentines Day. Three small toned
spots near the top of the cover. Still a very nice Valentines Day cover
with a period valentine. |
