CSA #12  (AD) (4-Margin with light edge staining ) tied by the manuscript "Pedlar Mills (Va) Aug 31/63" postal markings. From the Dr. Beverly P. Morriss Correspondence addressed to Dr. B. P. Morriss, Amherst CH, Va. Very clean cover. Beverly Preston Morriss (1822-1901), an 1849 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, practiced medicine in Amherst County. He was from a large land owning plantation family and also owned a plantation in Amherst County ("Edloe Glades") and was the largest slave owner in the county. A short biography of Dr. Morriss accompanies the cover.
