CSA #12c (AD) Greenish-Blue (4-Margin) tied by the RED Danville, Va CDS with a JAN date. Light corse paper cover addressed to Chas B. Bryant Esq, Henry Co. Ho., Va. The red Danville postmark is rarely seen. Very clean cover. Ex-Robert W. Weisman. Charles Benjamin Bryant (1842-1915), a lawyer by profession, served briefly as a Colonel of the Virginia Miltia as well as an adjutant in the Quartermaster Department before being elected as the Clerk of the Henry County Circuit and County Courts. That would date this cover to very late in the war. After the war, he was very much involved with Henry County, Virginia, and was elected Mayor of Martinsville in 1881.
