Blow Sr (1787-1870), a veteran of the War of 1812 as an officer in the
4th Virginia Militia, was from a prominent family and was a major
plantation owner in Sussex County, Virginia. His title of "Col" comes
from the fact that he was a pre-war Colonel of the 15th Virginia
Militia for over 20 years. He had no service in the Civil War due to
