CSA #12 (AD) (4-Margin with a left sheet margin) tied by an Abingdon, Va CDS 2 SEP. Military Address to Col N. J. Lillard, 3rd Tenn Regmt Vaughns Brig, Bristol, Tenn. The regiment in the address was the 3rd Tenn Inf Provisional Army, a unit in the Western Theater which was surrendered at Vicksburg. After the exchange, the regiment continued with service in the Army of Tennessee and was mounted later in 1864.  Col Newton J. Lillard (1830-1920) began service in 1861 as a captain and commanded the regiment in 1864. Cover wth some minor light foxing but a very nice stamp.
