CSA #12d (AD) Dark Blue (4-Margin) tied by the Gordonsville, Va CDS (date not fully apparent). Addressed to Mrs James L. Hubard, Carter's Birdge, Albemarle Co., Va. Very clean cover. James Lenaeus Hubard early in the war was the Lt Col of the 44th Va Inf but was dropped in the May 1862 reorganization. He later served as a Major (Quartermaster) on the staff of Brig-Gen B. H. Robertson's Cavalry Brigade. It would seem that this cover is most likely from Major Hubard to his wife.
