CSA #5 (4-Margin but a little close at the upper left corner and a small amount of edge gum toning but good color) tied by a full strike of the Richmond, Va CDS Powell Type 3d 3 JUL 1862. Light brown coarse paper cover with Military Address to Lieut Joseph C. Cabell, Tye River W(are) House, Nelson County, Va. Small reductions right and left but an overall very clean appearance. Joseph C. Cabell (Jr.) (1837-1863) was the 2nd Lieut (later 1st Lieut) of Co G 49th Va Inf. He was severely wounded at the Battle of Seven Pines but recovered and rejoined his regiment only to die of disease in November 1863. This cover dates from the time he was recovering from his Seven Pines wounds.
