CSA #11 (AD) (margin a little irregular at the right) tied by the black small double circle Charlottesvile, Va CDS 16 MAY 1864. Blue paper cover addressed to Thomas A. Yates Esqr, Camp Lee near Richmond, Va. The cover is missing the top back flap and has two vertical file folds but is otherwise very clean. Camp Lee was a camp of instruction and training for new recruits. Thomas A. Yates enlisted as a Private in Young’s Company of Young’s Va Cav on 1/28/1864. Obscure unit with no history recorded. Private Yates’ record shows that he was court martialed at Charlottesville 2/28/1865 (reason and outcome not recorded).
