CSA #7 Horz Pair (4-Margin) tied by the Forest Depot, Va rimless CDS with manuscript date “June 8” (1863). Addressed to Mrs. John M. Langhorne, Shawsville, Montgomery Co., Va. Very Fine Cover. The cover was sent by Private Jacob Kent Langhorne of Co B 2nd Va Cav to his mother. Private Langhorne attended VMI 1862-1863 but dropped out of school to enlist in February 1863. He is listed as mortally wounded at Brandy Station, Va 6/9/1863 (his first and only engagement and just one day after posting this cover home to his mother) and died a few days later. He is buried at the Crocker-Kent Cemetery near Shawsville, Va.
