Stampless Soldiers Due 10 Handstamp with the Lynchburg, Va CDS all in VIOLET Type I 28 SEP. Orange paper cover addressed to Miss L. Fannie Wright, Chamblessburg, Bedford Co., Va. Endorsed at upper left “Jas M. Wright, Co B, 58th Va Regt.” James Mathew Wright (1825-1898) enlisted as a private 8/24/1861. He served the entire war and surrendered with his unit at Appomattox 4/9/1965. The cover is addressed to his sister. The Wright Family Correspondence from Bedford County is archived in Richmond at the Library of Virginia. Very clean cover. Minor reduction at the left. The violet marks on an orange paper cover appear to be lightly struck.
