CSA #11 (AD) (margin close at left) tied by a partial strike of the BLACK Petersburg, Va CDS (date not apparent but must be very late 1864 or early 1865). Addressed to Mrs. John T. Wingfield, Washington, Ga. The cover is from Capt John T. Wingfield to his wife. Capt Wingfield entered service in 1861 in Co A 9th Ga Inf and subsequently had service in various Georgia artillery units beginning in late 1861. He is listed as wounded at Gettysburg 7/3/1863. At Gettysburg, he was a company commander in the Ga Sumter Light Artillery. At the time of this Petersburg cover, Capt Wingfield was a company commander in the 11th Ga Battalion Light Artillery.
