CSA # 12c (AD) Greenish-Blue (margin a little close at right but with a small left sheet margin and the bottom outer line of the Type II stamp shows remarkably well on this stamp) tied by the BLUE Petersburg, Va CDS 17 NOV. Addressed to Mrs. Fannie L. Noell, Liberty, Bedford, Virginia (Care of) Capt Elliott Lowry. Elliott Lowry (“Capt” title not associated with the Confederate Army) was Mrs. Noell’s father. Francis L. Noell’s husband was Private William Triplett Noell of Co C 28th Va Inf who very likely was the one who sent this cover. The 28th Va Inf was part of Garnett’s Brigade in Pickett’s Division and was a Pickett’s Charge regiment at Gettysburg. However, there is no specific war record for Private Noell other than his enlistment in May 1861. Reduced at left where opened and a little light foxing. Ex-John Hill.
