CSA #4 Stone 2 Position 41 used in combination with CSA #6 to make the 10c rate after the rate change. The CSA #4 stamp has close margins bottom and
left but appears to have a distinct random stone flaw (cataloged as a
transient variety 4-2-v9) at the lower left as well as a random stone
scratch in the same location. The CSA #6 stamp has a clipped upper left
corner. The two stamps are tied together and to the cover by the Richmond, Va
CDS Powell Type 3a 8 JUL 1862. Addressed to John Grom Care of Klink
Wickenberg, Charleston SC. Part of backflap missing, and a small
reduction at the top not affecting anything. Small hole in the cover in
the address which has been sealed. Still quite a clean cover with a
nice scarce combination use and aninteresting CSA #4 stamp variety. |
