TX429 Stampless PAID cover "Kidds Mills Tex May 17th (1863) Paid 10c" all in manuscript. Blue paper folded letter addressed to Mrs. Bettie Rhodes, Huntsville, Texas. The letter is datelined "Kidds Mills Leon County Texas May 17th 1863" and is signed "W. F. Kidd." Lengthy three page family letter written on blue lined notebook paper addressed to the writer's sister-in-law, which is easy to read, informing his sister-in-law in great detail about the death of the writer's wife. Very obscure Texas post office which is CSA Catalog unlisted. A post office operated at Kidds Mills in Leon County 1855-1868. Webb Kidd was the CSA postmaster appointed in August 1861. Internal fold splits reinforced with nearly invisible archival tape. Very clean cover.
