TX422 Stampless PAID cover with a full strike of the Belton, Tex CSA 28 JUL (1863) and handstamp PAID 10 Type C. Light blue paper folded letter addressed to Rev J. H. Thurmond, Sect S A M Act, San Antonio, Texas. Rev Thurmond was the first Baptist minister to establish a congregation in San Antonio. No idea to what the abreviated address refers to. It appears that Rev Thurmond was the Secretary of some organization perhaps related to the Baptist church. The one page letter deals with attempting to obtain flour and cotton and dates the cover to 1863. Clean cover with some light staining at the upper and lower left not affecting the postal markings or the address and a few paper erosions. Still quite a presentable cover. $250.00
