Lucius
D. Bradley (1831-1886), a lawyer by profession with this
cover advertising his pre-war law firm, entered service 2/1/1862
as 1st Lieut of Co I 12th Tex Inf. He was promoted Capt 4/14/1862 and transferred to the newly formed Waul's Legion (Cavalry).
He was captured with his unit as a POW at the Fall of Vicksberg
7/4/1863 and paroled the next day 7/5/1863. Capt Bradley rejoined his
unit after exchange when the unit was reorganized in Galveston, Texas,
where he remained for the rest of the war. After the war, he served in
the Texas State Legislature and the Texas Senate and also as a district
judge. He married Mary Grayson (1838-1887) in 1859 and had nine
children. |
