USA 3c Red Star Die with a Grid cancel and the small double circle Galveston, Tex CDS at the lower left corner 24 MAY 1860. The year in the CDS is clearly 1860 which is a date error as the Star Die was not issued until August 1860. Therefore, the correct date is 24 MAY 1861 USA Used in CSA Texas. From the Carrol, Hoy & Co New Orleans Correspondence with the usual filing pinholes. Back flap opening tears and a small 5 mm sealed edge tear at the top right center. Still an extremely clean and attractive cover.
