TX407 Turned Cover -- Used between Chapel Hill, Tex, and Hempstead, Tex, both ways. Very clean cover missing a bottom back flap. Has been folded out for display.

First Use (outside) CSA #11 (AD)
4-Margin but close at the top and the right) tied by the Chapel Hill Tex CDS FEB (1865).  Addressed to F. J. Cook, Hempstead, Texas.

Second Use (inside) -
Handcarried outside the postal system addressed to J. E. Wallis, Chapell Hill, Tex. Period docketing in pencil on the handcarried use identifies the sender and confirms the 1865 use "F. J. Cook Feby 22 / 65." As F. J. Cook is identified as the sender, the second use must have been handcarried from Hempstead to Chapell Hill, a distance of about 13 miles between the two towns.
