TX405 Turned Cover -- Postal use between Brownsville and San Augustine, Texas, from the Watson Correspondence. This correspondence is quite well known and is the source of several of the extremely rare Beaumont, Texas, provisional covers. Very clean cover opened for display.

1st Use -- CSA #11 (AD) (4-Margin) tied by an almost rimless example of the Brownsville, Tex CDS (date not fully apparent).  Addressed to Mrs. Mary P Watson, San Augustine, Texas.

2nd Use -- Stampless PAID use with manuscript postal markings "San Augustine (Texas) April 26 65 Paid 10." Addressed to Mrs. Maggie L. Watson, Brownsville, Texas. Very late use 17 days after Lee's surrender at Appomattox on 4/9/1865 and the very day that the remnants of the Army of Tennesse surrendered at Greensboro NC.
