TN447 Stampless PAID cover with the Memphis, Ten CDS and handstamp PAID 5 Type C (date not fully apparent). From the well-known and well-documented Carroll Hoy & Co New Orleans Correspondence with the usual filing pinholes. Period receiving docketing at the top naming the sender. Manuscript "Politeness of Mr. W. L. McDonald" at the lower left. Such a notation generally means that the cover was handcarried outside the postal system. Perhaps the cover was privately carried into Memphis from somewhere else and posted in Memphis. No way of knowing for sure since there is no enclosure. Very clean cover with only a minor back flap opening tear. Ex-Walcott Collection, Ex-Oswald. $200.00
