TN431 Stampless Soldier's Due cover with the Chattanooga, Ten CDS and handstamp Arc Due 10 Type D 10 JAN (1864) Chattanooga Army of Tennessee "Rover" postmark (CC ATN-01). Blue paper cover addressed to Mrs. S. E. Chandler, Tibbee Station, Miss. Railroad routing M & C RR the only railroad that fits that designation is the Memphis and Charleston Railroad). Endorsed across the top "Seargt Robertson Co A 44th Miss Regt." Minor back flap opening tear. Very clean cover.

Sergt B. F. Robertson (1829-1881), the soldier who endorsed the cover, is listed as entering service as 2nd Lieut Co A 44th Miss Regt 4/1/1862. Mississippi soldiers' records are notoriously sketchy. There is nothing else on his record except his enlistment as a 2nd Lieut. That is either an error or perhaps he was reduced to the ranks for some  unknown reason as his endorsement clearly says 'Seargt." The addressee, Sarah E. Robertson Chandler (1830-1907), was Sergt Robertson's sister.
