CSA 18xu1 Columbia SC PAID 5 Provisional all in BLUE 6 NOV (1861). Lavender colored small commercially made Lady's Cover addressed to Mrs. T. P. Mikell, Col F. J. Moses, Sumter SC. The addressee was Rebecca R. Mikell, wife of Thomas P. Mikell (a local planter who served as a 2nd Lt in Co K 1st SC Inf). She apparently was staying with her father, F. J. Moses, while her husband was away serving with the army. F. J. Moses was a prominent attorney, and the title "Col" was honorary and not associated with the Confederate Army. Clean cover slightly reduced at the top not affecting anything. Backflap opening tears. Ex-Deats, Ex-Kohn.
