CSA #18xu8 Columbia PAID 5 Provisional all in BLUE with a clear strike of the blue oval control mark on the reverse and the Columbia SC CDS dated 24 JUL (1861). Addressed to Dr. Jno S. Palmer, Echaw PO, So. Ca. Advertising Cover with a colorless embossed oval corner card at the upper left for a Columbia cotton dealer. Cover has been professionally restored with the restoration involving the top backflap and the top edge but not invovling the postal markings or the advertising. The restoration gives the cover an extremely fine appearance.
