CDS with a JUN 1862 date. Military Address to Capt Thomas Nesbitt,
Newton Baker County, Georgia. The is a red bordered front and back high
quality personalized ladies stantionery sent by Mrs. Ruth L. Nesbitt to
her husband. Her initials “RLN” are embossed on the backflap as a fancy
monogram. This type of high quality ladies cover is a significant
rarity in the Confederacy. Captain Thomas Nesbitt was in Georgia state
service. At the time of this cover, he was serving in the 9th Regt Georgia State Troops and was later in 1864 Major of the 1st Ga Infantry Militia unit. Very Fine Ex-Monroe Collection. |
