SC1306 SCSA #11c (AD) Greenish-Blue (4-Margin) Pen-canceled with matching manuscript at the left "Fort Motte (SC) (Calhoun County) Jun 24." Addressed to Mr. Rev Stephen Eilliot, Camden, South Carolina. Wallpaper Adversity Cover with a very flashy Green and Red Leaf pattern with a small cut piece folded down from the front for display. The cover has also been completely opened on three sides for full display. Minor corner wear at upper right which does not detract from a Very Fine apparance.

Rev Stephen Elliott (1804-1866) was a South Carolina Episcopal priest and rector of the large South Carolina St Bartholomew's Parish among others. Rev Elliott was the father of CSA Brigadier General Stephen Elliott Jr (1830-1866). General Elliott served throughout the war and was promoted Brigadier General in 1864. He was wounded twice (Battle of the Crater at the Siege of Petersburg and the Battle of Bentonville). He died as a direct result of his wounds in 1866. The handwriting on the cover is not that of General Elliott.
