Stampless PAID cover with the BLUE Columbia SC CDS and matching BLUE handstamp PAID (no rate) Type A 11 OCT (1861). This blue Columbia SC CDS was used 1861-1864. Note the day number is above the month. This is unusual for the Columbia SC postmark, but other examples used in OCT 1861 with this same configuration have been noted. Cover from the well-known Hagood Correspondence addressed to James E. Hagood Esqr, Clerk of Court, Pickens C..H., So. Carolina. Notation at the top "ch Secty of State." Exceptionally clean cover.
