Blue paper Adversity Cover made from a printed but unused legal form which has not been cut or folded for display. Addressed to Mrs. F. G. Ruffin, Box 124, Richmond, Virginia. The addressee was the wife of Col Francis Gildart Ruffin (1816-1890), a CSA staff officer in Richmond who served as assistant to the Chief Commissay General. Ruffin was a planter in Albermarle and Chesterfield counties and resigned in February 1865 as he was about to be court martialed for "conflict of interest." Clean cover and a nice representative example of an adversity cover. $150.00
