CSA #1 Stone A/B Olive Green (margin
just in at top center) tied by the BLUE
Columbia SC
CDS (date not apparent). The stamp is missing the left lower corner
secondary to a circular random printing flaw commonly referred to as a
Short Transfer.
This is merely a generic term which means part of the
stamp design failed to print. In this case, the cause was most likely
secondary to something on the printing stone at the time of printing
such as a piece of dirt or a piece of lint. These random (transient)
printing flaws are listed as a variety in the new CSA catalog under
Stone 1 as CC 1-1-v1. However, this stamp does not plate to Stone 1 or
Stone 2, so by appearance, color, and the process of elimination the
stamp must be Stone A/B. Orange paper cover addressed to Mrs.
Joseph
Abney, Edgefield CH SC. The addressee with the wife of Joseph Abney
