CSA #4 (two singles affixed to appear as a vertical pair) Stone 2 (top stamp is Position 19, bottom stamp is Position 4) (margins tight to just in) tied together and to the cover by two strikes of the RED Camden SC CDS (date not apparent). Military Address to Mr. Geo W. Barnes, Care Capt James Doby, Kirkwood Cavalry SCV, Richmond, Virginia. The unit referenced in the address is Co E (Kirkwood Rangers) of Holcombe's SC Cavalry Battalion which was in Richmond in the Spring and Summer of 1863. Minor period ink stain at right, otherwise a very clean cover. Ex-Kohn.
