CSA #12c (AD) Greenish-Blue (margin touches at the left) tied by the usual partial strike of the dateless Bristol V & T RR  (Virginia & Tennessee Railroad) CDS. Cover dates to April 1864 by period docketing at the left. Addressed to Hon Jas H. Witherspoon, Lancasterville SC who was a local judge and magistrate. The docketing at the left indicates that the original contents, which are no longer with the cover, were from Genl Kershaw who was a South Carolinian and a lawyer and politician before the war. Cover shows some minor light foxing.
