Soldiers “Due” with a weak strike of the Goldsborough NC CDS 5 APR (1862). There is no “Due” mark and no rate, but the endorsement identifies this as a soldiers cover “From Private D. M. Miller Co H 38th Regt” (38th NC Inf). Stars and Bars CSA Patriotic Cover (F10-11 in black) with Verse 5 (Bright banner of feedom...) and Imprint 17 (Manufactured by W & J BONITZ, Goldsboro NC). Addressed to Miss Marthy Miller, New Hope Randolph Co NC via Thomasville. Private D. N. Miller enlisted in Co H 38th NC Inf 11/4/1861. He is listed as Killed in Action at Mechanicsville, Va 6/26/1862.
