NC966 Stampless DUE cover with the BLUE Greensborough NC CDS with manuscript "Due 2" Drop Letter 16 DEC. No soldier's endorsement but allowed to be dropped as a "Due." Addressed to Genl Wm L. Scott, Greensboro NC. Very Fine.

William Lafayette Scott (1829-1872), a lawyer by profession, entered service as Capt of Co M 21st NC Inf and promoted Lt Col 2/1/1862. He was discharged from service 4/26/1862 and returned home to Greensborough. No further record. The title of "Genl" used on the cover was honorary and not associated with the Confederate Army.		 $400.00
