Stampless PAID cover with a partial strike of the Goldsborough NC CDS 10 SEP (1862) with handstamp PAID 10 Type
C. Coarse brown paper cover, which appears to be homemade, addressed to
C. H. Brogden Esq, Raleigh NC. Receiving docking at the right "Wayne County Bond Clerk County Court Rec'd Sept 10, 1862."
Interesting that the cover was received the same day that it was posted
when Goldsborough and Raleigh are about 55 miles apart suggesting that
the cover most likely went by railroad as Goldsborough was an important
railroad junction at the time. Very clean cover.
