NC933 Stampless Soldiers DUE cover with the small single rim Kinston NC CDS (date not apparent) and a manuscript which is presumed to be "Due 10." Addressed to Mrs. Elizabeth Marten, Nine Times PO SC Pickens District. Nine Times is actually a listed post office in Pickens County even though I have never heard of it or seen it before on a cover. Nine Times today is a small unincorporated area. Endorsed at right "W. W. Marten 22 Regt SCV Co F." Clean and presentable cover. Ex-Kaufmann, Ex-Richard Murphy Collection.

William Waddell Marten (Martin) (1829-1896) enlisted as a private in Co F 22nd SC Inf 1/15/1862. No further service record due to South Carolina's inabilty to keep good records. The Census of 1860 lists Pvt Marten as a farmer in Pickens County, and he appears on the Census of 1880 still farming in Pickens County. The addressee was Pvt Marten's wife.
