CSA #11 (AD) (4-Margin but close on the right) pen-cancelled and also tied by mansucript "Ashland NC April 29." Blue paper commercially made cover with Military Address to Lieut Harrison P. Lyon, Co B 33rd Regt NC Troops, Lane's Brigade, Army Northern Virginia. Back flap opening tears. Very clean cover.
Harrison P. Lyon (1840-1864) from Edgecombe County NC had service in several North Carolina units (1st NC Volunteers, 3rd NC Art, 1st NC Art) beginning in April 1861 rising to the rank of Sergeant before being commissioned as a 2nd Lieut and transferred to Co B 33rd NC Inf in
March 1863 (promoted 1st Lieut 12/2/1863). He is listed as wounded at
Chancellorsville 5/1/1863 and hospitalized in Richmond but recovered
and rejoined his unit. He was Killed-in-Action leading his company at
The Wilderness 5/6/1864 and is buried in Fredericksburg, Va. A full
