NC926 Stampless PAID cover with the Louisburgh NC CDS 19 FEB (1862) and handstamp PAID 5 Type B. Military Address to Lieut Jesse H. H. Person, 1st Regt NC Cavalry, Manassas, Virginia. Coarse brown paper cover with minor small edge stains, sealed back flap opening tears, and a light central vertical file fold. Still a very presentable cover with bold strikes of the postal markings. This Louisburg NC postmark has the "h" at the end. The new CSA Catalog only lists the postmark without the "h" at the end, and the Type B PAID 5 is listed as "unsupported." This cover certainly supports the Type B listing as well as the Louisburgh postmark containing the "h" at the end.

Lieut Person is listed as Killed-in-Action 7/3/1863 during a cavalry engagement between Stuart's command and Union cavalry just east of the Gettysburg battlefield (Hunterstown, Pa) and was buried the next day by his men in a Hunterstown Presbyterian churchyard.
