NC909 Stampless PAID cover with the usual partial strike of the Carolina City NC integral 5 Paid CDS with a NOV (1861) date. Coarse brown paper cover addressed to Miss F. M. Blair, Deals Mills, Caldwell County NC. Just a little minor light edge soiling and a small reduction at the left where opened. Still a clean appearing cover.

Carolina City established in 1855 was captured and occupied by the Federals in March 1862. The war devastated the small town and left it in ruins. Carolina City no longer exists as the area where the town once stood is now incorporated into Morehead City. The only things left from Carolina City are the somewhat few currently recorded early Civil War covers.
