CSA #12 (AD) (4-Magin but close at left center) tied by the small single rim Kinston NC CDS (date not apparent). Addressed to Mrs. T. A. G. Clarke, Mars Bluff, So. Ca. Adversity Cover made from an printed form which appears to be a passenger listing for a ship or a river steamboat. Displayed flapped over from the right. Small sealed edge tears at upper left. The addressee was the wife of Lieut T. A. G. Clarke, Co H, Hamptons SC Legion. The Legion was in NC May-July 1863. Lieut Clarke may have been the sender of this cover to his wife. Lieut Thomas Alfred G. Clarke died 1/17/1864. Cause of death not recorded. Few back flap opening tears. Small cover with a very clean appearance.
