CSA #7 Horz Pair (margin just in at top center) with a Grid Cancel and the matching Flat Rock NC CDS 24 FEB. Coarse brown paper cover addressed to Mrs.William Lowndes, Greenville SC. Enclosed in the envelope is a fancy period Valentine with a four line handwritten poem to "Alice" which is unsigned. Unable to connect an "Alice" with the name of the addressee, so cannot guarantee that the Valentine is original to this cover. But the Valentine is period, and this cover does have a FEB date. Very clean cover. The attachment of the lacy part of the Valentine to the back card containing the poem is fragile and has been reinforced from the back with archival tape.
