McLean, Weldon NC, Comp I 24th Reg NCT Care of Col Clarke, Ransom’s Brigade. 2nd: Soldiers Due 10 with the the Weldon NC CDS Dietz Type E 13 MAY (1864). Addressed to Mrs. S. J. Smith, Randallsville, Robeson Co. NC. Endorsed at left “D. B. McLean Co I 24th Regt NCT Ransoms Brigade.” Daniel B. McLean enlisted 6/4/1861 and was promoted Sergt Major 7/1/1862 and commissioned as a Lieutenant 6/29/1863. He was captured as a POW at Fort Stedman, Va 3/25/1865 and was confined first at the Old Capitol Prison in Washington DC and then at Fort Delaware until his release 6/17/1865. Coarse paper homemade cover with just a little light foxing but otherwise Very Fine. Has not been folded or cut for display. $350.00
