NC754 CSA #4 Stone 2 (not plated) (margin tight on the left) pen-canceled with matching manuscript "Fair Haven (NC) June 6 (1862)" representing very obscure use from Moore County. Heavy coarse brown paper which is an Adversity Cover made from recycled newsprint. Military Address to B. C. Phillips, Goldsborro, Co D 48 Regiment of NC Troops in Care of Capt Clegg. Pvt Baxter C. Phillips enlisted 4/19/1862 and is listed as wounded at Fredericksburg (Va) 12/13/1862 returning to his unit  3/1/1863 and listed as absent 1/18/1865 with no further record. Capt Thomas J. Clegg was wounded a few weeks after this cover was posted at King's School House (Va) 6/25/1862 and died of his wounds in Richmond 7/9/1862. Clean and complete cover. $225.00
